Duck and Geese

Our country is, without a doubt, a great choice for waterfowl hunting. In this program each hunter shoots between 200 and 250 rounds a day at over 8 different types of species of ducks such as White-faced Whistling-Duck, Silver Teal, Speckled Teal, Brown Pintail , Southern Wigeon, Red Shoveler (male), White-cheeked Pintail, Rosy-billed Pochard, Black-headed Duck , and 2 types of geese. Shooting begins at daybreak all the way up to 11 am. Then we return to the lodge where we have lunch and rest until about 4 pm when we get back to our shooting spots and go on until night falls.

We may be shooting by a lakeside on dry grounds, from boats or drums located in the water. Every spot will have decoys set up and every hunter will be assisted by a bird-boy whose job is to make sure the hunter’s needs are catered for. Bird-boys will have calls. To pick up downed ducks and geese we will be using retrieving dog such as Labs after the hunt is over. We will also provide hunters with boots, waders, capes, etc.

3 Day – Duck and Geese Program

Hunting Area:

The hunting area where this program takes place is Carlos Casares, west of Capital federal in the heart of Province of Buenos Aires. Thousands of hectares in this area where corn, wheat, sunflower, soy and other crops are grown have often suffered great floods over the last 10 years. Due to these floods, every year hundreds of fields cannot be harvested making it waterfowl’s favorite habitat. These new lake have turned this area into a perfect breeding place without the need to migrate.

Our lodge,  is only 15 to 20 minutes away from hunting places. It is located in the heart of a picturesque ranch and has 6 bedrooms with complete bathrooms, a great lounge-room with a fireplace and a dining-room. All rooms are well heated to make your stay pleasant at any time of the year.

You will be hosted by a staff made up of housekeepers and cooks who will offer you a wide variety of international dishes and our world-known fine wines. At the beginning of the hunting season you may find that it is often warm enough to make use of our swimming-pool. You will also find a clay target shooter which may be used at any time by those wishing to practice before going on their hunt.

Those accompanying hunters may also enjoy day-long horseback rides visiting the surrounding area and traditional ranches.

All transfers are done in Mercedes Benz/ or similar vans that can take up to 13 passengers. Hunts are done in rugged 4-Wheel-Drive vehicles. We see to all transfers from and to airports in Buenos Aires or Cordoba. Hunters will at all times be accompanied by our staff, from their arrival to the departure. From our country.

Temperatures in this area will vary greatly depending on the time of the year. April mornings and evenings may have temperatures of 18ªC with a high of 25ªC making it possible to enjoy a dip in our pool. May, on the other hand, temperatures may range from lows of 10ªC in the morning and evening to highs of 18ªC in the afternoon. With the arrival of winter, June temperatures go down to a low of 5 and a high of 15, reaching its coldest point in July with temperatures that range from 0ªC to 12ªC. It is not unusual to have shower during the waterfowl season so take that into account when packing suitcases.

Hunting season for all ducks and geese in this area starts on April 15th and ends on July 31st.
